For my illustration concepts and processes unit, I was tasked with creating a character that lives a double life and create accompanying visuals to represent their double life in a commercially viable project.

My character, Mayday Hazenberg, is a seemingly typical goth teenager, but beneath this facade, she leads a secret life as a reluctant cult leader. Born from a wealthy lineage, her family’s prosperity was secured generations ago through a pact with an eldritch deity.

Completing Assessment 3 in Illustration Concepts and Processes has deepened my engagement with character design, allowing me to revisit and evolve a character from my high school days.

This assessment challenged me to blend familiar line art with a newer, painterly style, reflecting my artistic growth. I enjoyed experimenting with different poses and a unique colour palette, enhancing my ability to create more nuanced and expressive illustrations.
