Gesaffelstein

Concert Website

DURATION: APRIL 2023 - MAY 2023

For Web Design 1, we could choose between a client brief or an open brief.

I have chosen an open brief, and the requirement was that it be a tourism website, a cultural event website, or a product/service website.

I decided to create a concert website for Gesaffelstein, an artist I liked. It was very fun to explore his aesthetics and create a website based on them.

Research

Amelie Lens

Takeaway

In designing my project's website, I researched similar sites like From Our Minds, The Darkness Live, and Amelie Lens, analyzing their visual and technical elements.

I focused on applying Gestalt principles—such as similarity, figure-ground, and proximity—to create a cohesive and engaging user experience.

My design proposals include a simplified colour palette, animated features, and efficient information architecture to enhance usability and aesthetic appeal. This research informed my strategic choices in optimizing user engagement and clarity.

Target Audience

Gesaffelstein's music typically attracts a younger, more alternative audience interested in electronic, techno, and experimental music. This audience likely values creativity, innovation, and an immersive experience.

Web Design Trends Research

My research explored website design trends, including dark mode, minimalistic designs, and micro-interactions. Dark mode enhances aesthetic appeal and usability, particularly for genre-specific sites like EDM.

Minimalism prioritizes simplicity and functionality, improving navigation and content accessibility. Micro-interactions add subtle engagement, enriching the user experience. These trends collectively contribute to a more immersive, user-friendly website.

Final Concept

I'm pleased with the website’s aesthetic alignment with the artist and functionality of my final project, especially the effective implementation of dynamic elements like the carousel and news sections, considering that this was my first website built.

The project was a valuable learning experience, deepening my skills in CSS animations and responsive design. Overcoming initial coding challenges enhanced my problem-solving abilities, preparing me for more complex design tasks in future projects.
